New Delhi: A huge crocodile was seen crawling along a street in Maharashtra's coastal Ratnagiri district after heavy rains on Sunday.

Footage captured from a car showed the animal on the road in Chiplun here, NDTV reported.

The crocodile is believed to have come out of nearby Shiva River, which hosts many crocodiles.

Ratnagiri is known for mugger crocodiles, which is among one of the three crocodilian species including saltwater and gharial crocodiles in India.

Chiplun among other places in the Ratnagiri district has been battered by rains for the last few days.

As the rivers in the district remain swollen, the Meteorological Department predicts more rains in Ratnagiri district till July 2.
