Mumbai: A Muslim youth in Mumbai has drawn widespread attention after launching a free food distribution drive for people of all religions, days after Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinky Chaudhary sparked outrage by snatching a plate of food from a poor man because of his Muslim identity, according to Siasat.

The earlier incident, captured in a viral video, showed Pinky Chaudhary openly declaring that Muslims should not be allowed to eat at a Hindu religious event and insisting that only Hindus should be served.

“We will not give food to Mullahs, no matter who feels bad; no Muslim should eat,” Chaudhary had said in a viral clip.

The remarks triggered sharp criticism on social media, with many accusing the Hindu Raksha Dal leader of openly promoting communal hatred and humiliating poor people on the basis of religion.

In response, a group of Muslim youths organised a public food distribution drive under the message that food should be available to everyone regardless of faith. Snacks, fruits and drinking water were distributed to poor people without asking their religion or identity. A widely shared video from the drive showed the organiser reassuring a man named Bhagwan that the food was being served in the spirit of humanity and brotherhood.

Bhupendra Tomar, popularly known as Pinky Chaudhary, has repeatedly faced criticism over anti-Muslim remarks and actions. At a religious gathering in Ghaziabad, he had referred to Muslims as “jihadis,” falsely claimed Muslim soldiers refused to fight against Pakistan, and urged Hindus not to allow Muslims to purchase homes in Hindu-majority areas.

In February 2026, members of his group also painted “Road Not for Muslims” on a national highway in Uttar Pradesh, with Chaudhary defending the act by falsely claiming that only Hindus pay taxes in India.
