Mumbai: Actor Swara Bhaskar has reacted strongly to the killing of a youth during a clash that broke out amid Holi celebrations in Delhi, alleging that the incident is being politically and communally exploited

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Swara Bhaskar said the death of Tarun Khatik was being used to fuel communal tensions. She criticised what she described as a “planned political objective” behind the narrative surrounding the incident.

Swara wrote, "The whole Sanghi ecosystem is in overdrive about the murder of one #TarunKhatik in a Holi brawl with his Muslim neighbors. It's a messy story. The Delhi police confirmed that the neighbours had a decades long dispute, a child from the Hindu household threw a water balloon at a burqa clad woman from the Muslim household. A fight began.. Tarun brought friends from his gym, the fight started to get worse and Tarun sustained a head injury causing collapse. His friends ran away. People from both households were hospitalised. Tarun died the next day in hospital. It's HORRIBLE and a totally avoidable death.”

The actor also condemned the action taken by the Delhi Chief Minister to demolish the house of the accused using a bulldozer following the clash. She questioned the move and implied that such actions were being carried out for political messaging rather than due legal process.

"Sanghi scavengers celebrate the bulldozing of Muslim home (totally illegal as per Supreme Court orders banning bulldozer justice, widely disregarded by BJP govts. Across states in India).. Sanghi scavengers want more- call for encounters of Muslim family on the streets. The Muslim family woman who was targeted with the water balloon has now put out a statement alleging that she was molested and harassed by drunk men including Tarun after the balloon incident and that's why the fight began.”

She said that the Delhi CM’s act was “deeply communal”.

The incident occurred during Holi celebrations in Delhi, where a clash reportedly led to the death of Tarun Khatik. The development has since triggered political reactions and debate over the handling of the case.

Bhaskar’s remarks have added to the ongoing discussion on the incident, particularly regarding allegations of communalisation and the government’s response after the killing.
