Two Muslim men were paraded through the streets by the police after being accused of spitting near the Narmada Parikrama Yatra, and they were earlier assaulted by Hindutva outfit members before being handed over to authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Tamkhan village of Dewas.

The men, identified as Mohsin and Akbar, were alleged to have spit near the religious procession while driving a tractor, and the accusation led to their capture and thrashing by members of the Hindutva group.

The mob restrained them before informing the local police, who arrived at the scene, arrested the duo, and confiscated their tractor, but no official charges have yet been disclosed. A video that surfaced on social media on Friday, February 21, shows the two men struggling to walk while being handcuffed to each other, and their heads were covered with black cloth as they were paraded through the village road.

The police, accompanied by Hindutva members on motorbikes, marched alongside the arrested men while slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” were raised, and the supporters were seen cheering as the two were led away.

Following the incident, several Hindu organisations staged protests, demanding that the National Security Act (NSA) be invoked against Mohsin and Akbar, while the authorities have yet to release any statement regarding the case.

The situation in the village remains tense, and police deployment has reportedly been increased, but no official clarification has been provided on whether further action will be taken.
