Lucknow: In an alleged fresh incident adding to the growing intolerance to Christmas celebrations across the country, a large group of Hindus allegedly gathered outside a famous Roman Catholic Church here in Uttar Pradesh and disrupted Christmas day celebrations chanting “Hare Krishna Hare Ram” slogans loudly, Siasat reported.

Video of the incident, which happened on Wednesday near the Hazrat Ganj Cathedral, where around a thousand people were attending Christmas prayers, appeared on social media, where a large group of people could be seen screaming the slogans. The video reportedly started an outrage and debate on religious intolerance in India.

The video features young boys, girls, and elders in the crowd chanting and clapping.

Siasat reported that some of them were proclaiming that they were Sanatanis and that they would not say Merry Christmas but Hare Krishna Hare Ram. People were recording demonstrations going on in front of the church.

This year, there were many reports of several anti-Christian incidents, activities and attacks that happened across India during Christmas celebrations.

Reports suggested that these attacks orchestrated by right-wing Hindutva outfits and their affiliates have carried out a systemic campaign of harassment and intimidation targeting Christian communities to express their strong opposition to the Christmas festival.

Most of these attacks were carried out by right-Hindutva outfits and their affiliates. They carried out a systemic campaign of harassment and intimidation of members of Christian communities during the festival. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists in Kerala disrupted celebrations at a school and questioned teachers over their Santa attire. Another school in the same area in the state witnessed vandalism of Christmas decorations.

Bajrang Dal activists disrupted and stopped celebrations in a Rajasthan School and forced a Zomato delivery person to remove his Santa attire.
