Heavy rains batter Guajarat, 35 dead: schools shut in Mizoram

It is reported that heavy rains caused the collapse of the runway side wall of Gujarat’s Rajkot International Airport on Thursday.
71 villages of Jamangar remain cut off from the rest of the district with electricity supply is snapped, worsening the situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel offering Centre’s support to the state.
Patel announced that cleaning and disinfecting will be carried out after the flood water recedes in Vadodara.
In Mizoram a newly-constructed railway station collapsed in Kawnpui due to a landslide from heavy rains on Wednesday, according to the Deccan Herald.
Landslides have been reported in the state following heavy rains since August 20.
The government ordered the closure of schools in four districts of the state as a precautionary measure.
