New Delhi: Heavy downpours in Delhi claimed the lives of two people, a 22-year-old woman and her three-year-old son who slipped into a waterlogged drain in Ghazipur, and one person was reportedly trapped in Chandni Chowk's Sadar Bazar.

Government and private schools will remain shut on Thursday. The wall of a private school in Daryaganj collapsed on to vehicles nearby. At least 10 flights bound for Delhi were diverted due to adverse weather conditions.

Several areas saw waterlogging, including Pragati Maidan tunnel, the Civic Cenre near Ramlila Maidan as well as Old Rajinder Nagar area where the Rau's IAS Study Circle was located. Three IAS aspirants were drowned in the basement library of the coaching centre last week. In Chhatarpur area of South Delhi, vehicles were seen navigating through the waterlogged roads.

Minister Atishi said in a post on X, "Delhi Govt and MCD are maintaining a close watch on low lying areas and vulnerable waterlogging locations, to ensure no untoward incident takes place."
