Ahmedabad: The Veer Narmad South Gujarat University of Surat decided to build a cattle shed at the construction site of its new administrative building for 'positiveness' to overcome potential crises during construction. The university made the decision following the advice of a Jyotish Shashtri and it will house five to seven cows there.

The vice-chancellor of the government-owned university stated that the decision was made to ensure prosperity for the institution as per the astrologer's advice. The university decided to consult the astrologer after concerns over the recent issues in the education sector of India including paper leaks, the low pass percentage of students in undergraduate courses, delays in the tendering process for different works etc., The Indian Express reported.

The university has also decided to establish a Kamdhenu Chair in the Department of Biotechnology for cow-based research, aligning with the National Education Policy (2020).

The astrologer was shown the place where the new administrative block is planned to be built. The VC says that he was advised that if five to seven cows are kept there for a month and properly cared for, there will be positive energy and the administration of the institution will run efficiently. For now, a makeshift cowshed will be built to take care of the cows for a month.

The old administrative block had been demolished, and the government had sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the construction of a new building. The authorities appointed an architect, a surveyor, and an astrologer to prepare the design. That's when the proposal for the stable came.

However, the university's decision is being heavily criticized, including on social media.
