New Delhi: The central government has decided to conduct a retest for 1,563 students who appeared in the NEET entrance examination on May 5, 2024 and were awarded grace marks. This decision was made by a four-member committee headed by the UPSC chairman.

The committee decided to allow all 1,563 candidates the option to either sit for a retest or accept the “non-normalized score,” which reflects their performance before the addition of grace marks.

The retest for these candidates will be conducted on June 23, with results announced before June 30, the central government informed the court on Thursday. Further information on exam centers and admit cards will be provided by the committee soon.

Concerns raised by students and parents over irregularities and mismatches in marks prompted the formation of the committee. After meetings on June 11, 12, and 13, the committee decided to conduct the retest. Candidates who do not wish to appear for the re-exam will have their actual marks, without compensation, declared based on the May 5 examination. Marks for those who appear in the retest will be based solely on the retest, with their previous scores from the May 5, 2024, examination discarded.
