G-23 leaders meets second time in 24 hours
text_fieldsNew Delhi : There will be a meeting this evening between Congress' G-23 dissidents at Ghulam Nabi Azad's home. The meeting will start at 7 p.m., sources say.
Yesterday, 18 leaders - including dissidents and 'newcomers' from six states - met to discuss how to proceed following the latest election loss in five states.
The Congressmen spoke of a "collective, inclusive leadership" after the meeting and called on other like-minded parties to join with the Congress in 2024 to take on the BJP.
According to sources, the party leaders have decided not to split from the party at the moment. They believe the party is in a weak state and might collapse altogether.
The 23 leaders who wrote the explosive letter to Sonia Gandhi two years ago, demanding an election for leadership and a complete overhaul of the organisation, were expected to meet her today.
