Jaipur: Four police personnel were injured early Friday morning after a mob pelted stones during an anti-encroachment drive outside a mosque in Chomu town, Jaipur district. The violence erupted around 3 am near the local bus stand when authorities attempted to remove iron railings that had been erected on the road. Police were forced to use tear gas and mild force to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.

The conflict originated from discussions held on Thursday evening between the administration and community members regarding stones placed on the road area outside the religious structure. While the community initially agreed to remove the stones, tensions flared later when some individuals allegedly began installing iron railings to create a boundary, which authorities flagged as an encroachment on the public road. When a police team, accompanied by a JCB machine, arrived to dismantle the railings, they were met with stone-pelting.

Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Agarwal confirmed that the situation is now under control, though strict action will be taken against those involved in the violence. "Four policemen sustained injuries in stone pelting," Agarwal stated. Chomu Deputy Superintendent of Police Usha Yadav added that two to three civilians also suffered minor injuries. The injured officers were admitted to a hospital for treatment.

In response to the unrest, internet services have been suspended in Chomu for 24 hours as a precautionary measure. Additional police forces from nearby stations, including Harmada, Vishwakarma, and Daulatpura, were deployed to the area to prevent further escalation. Police have been conducting flag marches throughout the town since morning, and special teams have been formed to identify and arrest the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
