New Delhi: Congress leader Jitendra Singh Ahirwar appeared to be upset and angry after the BJP's Amit Malviya alleged that the congress leader helped a hand in tying the shoe laces of Rahul Gandhi.

The allegation emerged after a video of the Bharat Jodo Yatra went viral which the BJP seized on to take a dig at the Congress.

The former Union minister demanded an apology from the Malviya and threatened to take legal action if not complied.

Amit Malviya had tweeted a video of Gandhi during the yatra which showed Ahirwar kneeling as Rahul Gandhi stood facing him, NDTV reported.

Malviya’s comment that followed the video said the former union minister Bhanwar Jitendra Singh went down on his knee to tie Rahul Gandhi's shoe lace.

He further said in the tweet that “the arrogant entitled brat” chose not to help himself but was seen patting his back.

An upset Ahirwar said that he was tying his own shoe lace that had come undone.

"As incharge of ruling BJP's National Info Dept your tweet is a complete lie and defamatory. The fact is that after being pointed out by Rahul ji upon my request he paused briefly so that I could tie my own shoe laces. Delete the tweet and apologise to RG or face legal action," his message reportedly read.

After traversing Rajasthan, the Bharat Jodo Yatra is currently doing the Haryana leg that saw Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and former deputy Sachin Pilot walking with Rahul Gandhi.
