Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique dies after being shot in Mumbai
text_fieldsBaba Siddique, former Maharashtra minister and leader of the National Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), passed away after being shot at inside his son's office in Mumbai's Bandra.
Siddique, who held Y-level security, was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition following the attack.
According to sources, the shooting occurred around 9:30 pm, with two to three shots fired at him.
Reports indicate that Siddique was visiting his son's office when the incident took place. Two suspects, one from Uttar Pradesh and another from Haryana, have been arrested in connection with the shooting, while a third person remains at large.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed the arrests and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible. Siddique succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.
The shocking incident has sparked an outpouring of grief, with Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan reportedly visiting the hospital to offer their condolences.
