Ahead of the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections to be conducted next year, former Minister of state for home and Congress leader Kripashankar Singh joined the BJP in the presence of state unit chief Chandrakant Patil and former chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday. The BJP has already launched the "Mission 2022" drive ahead of the elections with a firm resolve to defeat the standing Shiv Sena government.
Singh had served as minister in the previous Congress-NCP government and as Congress chief between 2008 and 2012. He resigned from the Congress ahead of the 2019 assembly elections. Previously, he had also been targeted by the BJP for alleged links to several corruption cases and disproportionate assets.
