Fire in chemical plant kills 6, injures 13 in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati : An errant blast inside a chemical plant in Andhra Pradesh's Eluru district on Wednesday killed six people and hurt13 others.
Fire broke out at about 11;30 pm following a gas leak while 30 people were working at Porus Laboratories here.
Following the fire in the fourth unit of the plant police, revenue and fire department officials rushed to the spot.
The injured were rushed to a government hospital and Giffard Memorial Hospital hospital in Nuzvid town.
According to district Superintendent of Police (SP), Rahul Dev Sharma, causes of the accident have been investigated.
Authorities are yet to confirm whether the reactor exploded or a short circuit led to fire.
Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed grief and offered condolences to the bereaved family members.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of those killed and Rs 5 lakh for those gravely injured and Rs 2 lakh for those with minor injuries.
The CM has directed the district collector and the SP to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
