Fake news on Siddaramaiah: Arnab Goswami, R Kannada editor booked
text_fieldsKarnataka police have filed an FIR against Republic TV's chief editor Arnab Goswami and R Kannada editor Niranjan J based on a complaint raised by the Congress party for their alleged dissemination of false news about Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and inciting hatred.
According to reports from local Kannada outlet Vartha Bharati, the complaint filed by the Congress alleges that R Kannada aired footage claiming that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's convoy had obstructed an ambulance while purportedly blocking traffic in Bengaluru.
However, the Congress contends that Siddaramaiah was actually in Mysuru at the time of the incident, rendering the footage aired by R Kannada as misleading and aimed at sowing unrest ahead of elections.
Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal Jain took to Twitter to express the party's stance, stating, "Case has been filed against Arnab Goswami and the R Kannada channel editor Niranjan J for telecasting false news against CM... They telecast a video clip claiming CM stopped vehicular traffic and obstructed the ambulance while traveling in Bangalore. But the CM had not traveled on the said date; he was in Mysore."
This incident is not the first of its kind involving Siddaramaiah's convoy. In the past, there have been several instances where the Chief Minister's security measures have led to controversies, particularly regarding the stopping of ambulances citing security reasons.
