Ex-UP minister and wife, jailed over murder of poetess, to be released
text_fieldsLucknow (Uttar Pradesh): The former Uttar Pradesh minister and wife, serving life term for murder of poetess Madhumita Sukla, will be released.
The state’s Prisons Administration department issued an order to release Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani Tripathi, according to NDTV.
The order related to the release was reportedly issued after the permission of the Governor.
The former minister and his wife, currently lodged in Gorakhpur Jail, will be released upon presenting a bond.
Madhumita was shot dead on May 9, 2003, in Paper Mill Colony, Lucknow.
The Special Judge/Sessions Judge of Dehradun sentenced the minister and his wife to life imprisonment.
The case, according to the report, was probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
