New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi will visit Denmark, Germany and France as part of a three-nation tour on May 2.

Ahead of the trip, PM Modi said he was travelling to Europe just as the region was facing many challenges.

His visit to Europe gains importance given the ongoing Russia's war on Ukraine, which has created a refugee crisis reminiscent of post-World War II.

Alongside, Russian invasion has thrown Europe off balance, altering its geo-political equations.

PM Modi said that his engagements could strengthen the spirit of cooperation with India's European partners.

The first leg of the visit on May 2 will see him holding talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

They will co-chair the sixth edition of the India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC).

Several Indian ministers will also travel to Germany and hold consultations with their German counterparts, India Today reported.

Flying to Copenhagen in Denmark on May 3, PM Modi will huddle with his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen, as well as attending the Second India-Nordic Summit.

Subsequently, PM Modi will meet prime ministers of other Nordic countries: Katrin Jakobsdottir of Iceland, Jonas Gahr Store of Norway, Magdalena Andersson of Sweden, and Sanna Marin of Finland

As well as attending India-Denmark Business Roundtable, he will meet with the Indian community in Denmark.

Afterwards on his way back to India, PM Modi will have a brief stopover in France on May 4.

Modi will interact with recently reelected French President Emmanuel Macron.

Alongside conveying his congratulations personally, the meeting with Macron, PM Modi said, would reaffirm the close ties between the two nations.
