Chennai: A Tamil singer has levelled serious allegations of repeated sexual abuse against a prominent composer from the Tamil industry itself, describing him as the “Epstein of Madras” and triggering fresh concerns over exploitation within the regional film music industry, according to NDTV.

In a recent interview, the singer chose not to name the accused but used the comparison to suggest a pattern of systemic abuse. She said she left the Tamil industry and moved to Rishikesh after the experience left deep psychological scars. She has now decided to speak out as she plans to initiate legal proceedings.

According to her account, the alleged abuse took place inside the composer’s studio, a space she had initially trusted. She described it as a controlled environment, claiming it was soundproof, locked, and fitted with multiple cameras, including hidden ones. She alleged that the acts were recorded and later used to threaten and intimidate her, effectively trapping her in silence.

The singer also indicated that her experience was not an isolated one. After confiding in others, she said she found a recurring pattern, with multiple women sharing similar accounts. She alleged that the accused would build trust before exploiting it, often targeting independent women and gradually asserting control, including through financial manipulation.

She further claimed that secretly recording individuals had become routine, extending even to minors visiting the studio, raising serious concerns about the scale of the alleged misconduct.

The aftermath, she said, severely affected both her career and mental health. She described facing defamation within the industry, false accusations, and emotional distress that required therapy and family support.

Although she had earlier approached legal and official channels, she did not file a complaint at the time due to fear and lack of support. She has now indicated she will pursue legal action, potentially bringing wider scrutiny to the case.
