Raipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday arrested IAS officer Ranu Shahu in Chhattisgarh, a day after the central agency conducted raids at 18 locations in the state.

The arrest was made in connection with a PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) case linked to an alleged coal levy case.

Following her arrest, Sahu, who was posted as the director of the state agriculture department, was presented in a court that sent her to three-day ED custody.

She is the second IAS officer in the state who has been arrested in the case as Sameer Vishnoi, an IAS officer of the 2009 batch, was arrested last year.

The ED conducted raids at her residence in Raipur on Friday.

The agency has been probing an alleged coal levy and liquor scam in the state in which it has arrested some prominent bureaucrats, apart from politicians and those linked to them.

Apart from Sahu, the ED team searched the premises belonging to state Congress leader Ram Gopal Agarwal.

Another team of ED was spotted at Korba Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prabhakar Pandey's location.

During the search operation, the ED teams were assisted by CISF personnel.
