Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday asked clarification from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over its Mahagathbandhan ally Congress' alleged ties with the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) and the Popular Front of India (PFI).

The BJP leader said it was important to make RJD's stance on the issue clear to the people of Bihar ahead of the election.

"We want to ask Tejashwi Yadav whether along with Congress, his party (RJD) has also had an understanding with Jamaat-e-Islami and other radical elements in Bihar. These are questions of national security, not politics," Naqvi said at a press conference.

Slamming Congress, the minority face of BJP accused that the party which calls itself secular is sponsoring radicalism.

"They tweet different questions for us, but they should clarify their stance on their plans with the Jamaat-e-Islami, PFI and other such elements", he further added

Apart from Naqvi, On Saturday Union Minister and BJP leader from Kerala, V Muraleedharan too had accused that Congress is holding discussions with the Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, immediately after the visit of Rahul Gandhi (to Kerala).

"Congress is trying to have electoral adjustments with the terrorist organizations. This is vote bank politics," accused Muraleedharan, the Minister of State for External Affairs.

Veteran Congress leader and the president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) President Mullappally Ramachandran had reacted that the allegation is "absolutely wrong" and "misleading".

Ramachandran clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami has no links with Congress.

"Our understanding is with our coalition parties of Kerala. I cannot say anything about the rest of the things," he added.

"Can you point out a single instance if we had any discussion with any terrorist group? Muraleedharan wants to create problems in the party (Congress). There are enough problems in the BJP-ruled states." he added

The controversy emerged after Veteran Congress leader M.M Hassan, the newly elected convenor of Congress lead opposition alliance United Democratic Front(UDF) visited all prominent Muslim leaders in Kerala after he took over the position. He had also visited Jamaat-e-Islami leaders during this exercise.

The United Democratic Front (UDF) is a pre-poll alliance of political parties in Kerala created by the Indian National Congress (then known as Congress-Indira) party leader K. Karunakaran in 1978. Since the 1980s, the coalition has sustained itself as the front to take on the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF.
