New Delhi: Tamilisai Soundararajan, former BJP chief for Tamil Nadu, tried to end speculations that Union Home Minister Amit Shah ‘admonished’ her when they were seen interacting in a video, according to The Indian Express.

Tamilisai, the former Telangana governor, claimed in a post on platform X that they discussed post-poll challenges in the state.

In the video that ran viral after Shah was seen wagging his finger while speaking to Tamilisai on stage at Chandrababu Naidu’s swearing-in ceremony Tuesday.

The DMK and Congress are trying to seize the opportunity by launching a protest in the state on Thursday.

It is reported that the influential Nadar community, to which Tamilisai belongs, is upset over the video.

Seeking an apology from Shah and Annamalai, Nadar community leaders asked if upper caste leaders in the party would be treated similarly.

In Tamil Nadu’s Dravidian politics, the Nadar community has largely stood by national parties for decades.

The state BJP leaders posted the video on social media suggesting Shah was rebuking Tamilisai over her remarks supposedly targeting Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai.

As the controversy began roiling Tamilisai said on X: “Yesterday as I met our Honorable Home Minister Sri @AmitShahji in AP for the first time after the 2024 Elections he called me to ask about post poll followup and the challenges faced.. As i was eloborating, due to paucity of time with utmost concern he adviced to carry out the political and constituency work intensively which was reassuring. This is to clarify all unwarranted speculations around…”

Meanwhile, a DMK spokesperson questioned Amit Shah over “exhibiting harsh words with a threatening body language” against a woman leader.
