Dense fog in UP: Truck kills six people at roadside tea stall
text_fieldsLucknow: Six people standing at a roadside tea stall were mowed down by a truck in Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday morning. The police said the dense fog was the reason behind the accident. Four more people were injured in the accident on the Banda-Bahraich highway.
The truck ran over the people at the tea stall and fell into a ditch. Locals think more people might be trapped under the vehicle and a search operation was launched. District Magistrate Mala Srivastava and Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi visited the spot.
The deceased were identified as Shivmohan (33), Ravindra (37), Santosh (39), Vrindavan alias Gutku (43), Lallu (54), and Lalai (74).
The accident took place near Khagiyakheda village under the Gurbaksh Ganj police station in the district. The truck was moving towards Lalganj from Bachhrawan.
On Tuesday, a similar accident took place on the Yamuna Expressway when a bus collided with a container due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. Six of the injured were foreign tourists from New York - Louis (58), Andria (56), Carla (60), Katie (22), Rohanda (52), and Paul (53). Two of them are in critical condition. Driver Subash was also reported to have sustained injury.
Uttar Pradesh has been reporting several accidents due to dense fog, especially in the countryside in the last few days.
