Delhi Police registers FIR against social media users including Owaisi, Narsinghanand
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The names of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi and controversial cleric Yati Narsinghanand have been mentioned in one of the two first information reports (FIRs) registered by its special cell against various people yesterday, Delhi Police said, for allegedly inciting hatred and hurting religious sentiments.
The police on Thursday added that cases against Owaisi and Yati Narsinghanand have been filed for their alleged inflammatory remarks on social media.
Naveen Jindal, a former Delhi BJP media unit chief who was expelled from the party, and Nupur Sharma, a suspended former party spokesperson, are among those named in the FIR, according to the Indian Express.
KPS Malhotra, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Cell) on Wednesday said that the police had registered a case against social media users for inciting hatred, provoking groups and disturbing public peace.
