Delhi Police files FIR against creators of toolkit shared by Greta Thunberg
text_fieldsThe Delhi Police, on Thursday, has registered an FIR against the creators of the toolkit shared by the 18-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg. The Swedish activist had shared a toolkit recommending ways of extending solidarity to the farmers' protests on Wednesday which she then deleted in a few hours. She tweeted an updated toolkit in the early hours of Thursday which included calls for virtual and on-ground solidarity to the protests.
Charges in the FIR include of conspiracy, promoting enmity between groups and disruption of harmony.
Though initial reports claimed the FIR to be against the teenager herself, the Delhi Police has clarified that nobody has been named in the FIR. "We have not named anybody in the FIR. It is only against the creators of the toolkit which is a matter of investigation. Delhi police will be investigating the case," said Praveen Ranjan, Special Commissioner of police.
The FIR notwithstanding, Greta tweeted in the evening, "I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest"
Thunberg is one among the several international figures who extended solidarity to farmers' protests in India. India's Ministry of External Affairs, in a statement, condemned the outpour of solidarity as "attempts by vested groups to intervene in India's internal matters".
