Delhi Police arrest 8 over vandalism outside Kejriwal's house
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Police arrested 8 persons of a right wing outfit, spearheading protest against Kejriwal over his comment on the movie "The Kashmir Files", for vandalism outside Delhi Chief Minister's residence on Thursday.
The protest was taken out by the BJP's Yuva Morcha over Kerjiwal's remarks on "The Kashmir Files" deemed to be against the Kashmiri Pandits.
A senior police official of Delhi Police reportedly said that several teams were hot on the heels of people involved in the case. Police were identifying persons involved in vandalism using CCTV footages.
Delhi Police had on Wednesday registered an FIR under sections 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code and under section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, according to report.
The protest led by the Yuva Morcha's national president Tejasvi Surya reached the Chief Minister's residence at around 11.30 a.m. raising slogans against Kejriwal and his party.
Some of the protestors breached the two barricades pitted near the CM house, creating ruckus there.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Singh Kalsi the some of the protesters scaling the barricade threw paint outside the door. Kejriwal was not present inside the house at the time of the incident, IANS report says.
Another incident of ruckus on Wednesday saw police detaining 70 people outside the Chief Minister's residence, according to IANS.
Police said that they were still working on the matter.
