Delhi HC stays Subramanian Swamy's summons on defamation case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has stayed the summons, along with other proceedings, issued by a lower court against Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy in a defamation case filed by BJP spokesperson Delhi Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, IANS reported.
Justice Jasmeet Singh issued a notice in the plea and posted the matter for further hearing on September 6.
Bagga had alleged that Swamy posted defamatory comments against him on Twitter. While issuing the summoning order, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh said that the court could see sufficient grounds to proceed against the respondent.
After that, Swamy moved to High Court, challenging the lower court order.
Bagga's defamatory case came after a Twitter war between him and Swamy, posting allegations and counter-allegations against each other.
Supporters of both the leaders joined the war and echoed the allegation through their comments. Swamy targeted Bagga, saying that journalists told him that Bagga was jailed many times before joining BJP and that too for petty offences. In the same tweet, he didn't forget to ask BJP national president JP Nadda whether the information was true or not.
Bagga had reported through Twitter that if Awamy is James Bond's uncle, he should stop tweeting and start contacting the police and expose him to details. He allowed Swamy 48 hours to reach back, winning the challenge.
However, Bagga got recently booked by the Punjab Police for making inflammatory remarks after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's comments on "The Kashmiri Files".
