Delhi cops crack mystery of triple murders in a family, son arrested
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The murder of three members of a family, a couple and their 23-year-old daughter, rocked the national capital Wednesday.
Reports at the time said the couple’s 20-year-old son discovered the horrific murders upon returning from morning walk, according to NDTV.
Hours later, the police have found that the son himself carried out the gristly murder that took place in South Delhi's Neb Sarai.
The bodies of Rajesh Kumar, 51, his wife Komal, 46, and their daughter Kavita were found in their house on Wednesday morning.
The couple’s son Arjun claimed he had left for morning walk around 5.30 am and found the bodies upon returning.
Arjun himself alerted the police about the murder alongside calling up and informing his uncle too.
Arjun stabbed his family to death when they were asleep, which he had been planning for a while and decided to carry out on his parents' wedding anniversary.
The reason for the gruesome act was that he felt ‘humiliated’ by his father and believed that his parents had plans to leave their property to his sister.
Arjun, who has now been arrested, reportedly told neighhours that he had left for morning walk after wishing his parents, who were celebrating their 27 th wedding anniversary.
It is reported citing neighhours that Rajesh, Komal and Kavita were stabbed in the throat.
According to Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain, CCTV footage in the area showed no one from outside the family entering the house.
More important, there were also no signs of forced entry into the house and nothing was stolen or ransacked.
Arjun’s claim, according to Jain, proved suspicious as there were contradictions in his statements and he confessed to the murder following ‘sustained examination’ in the custody.
Arjun, who had his schooling at Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, is a second-year- Bachelor of Arts student at Delhi University.
A trained boxer, Arjun represented Delhi in boxing event and won a silver medal.
Arjun told police that his father Rajesh, who was an ex-serviceman, ‘humiliated’ him in front of his neighbours recently and used to scolded him about studies and chores.
Thinking that no one in the family supported him, Arjun felt neglected and isolated, which led him to harbour grudge against his parents and sister.
He was upset when he learnt that his father was to leave family property to his sister in his will.
The Delhi Police said ‘He premeditated the plan to eliminate his family members. He chose December 4 since it was the marriage anniversary of his parents. To create a web of deception, he went out at 5.30 am to have an alibi.’
