DCW seeks Police's action report on rape threat to Kohli's 9-month old daughter
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent notice to Delhi Police on the rape threats to the daughter of Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma seeking information regarding the investigation on the case, NDTV reported.
DCW chairperson, Swati Maliwal, tweeted that the way the nine-month-old was threatened on Twitter was very shameful.
Information the DCW sought includes a copy of the FIR, details of the accused identified and arrested, a detailed "action taken report" in the matter. The notice sent on Tuesday said that if no accused has been arrested, DCW wants the details of steps taken by Delhi Police to arrest the accused. The police have been asked to submit the information by November 8.
After India lost to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup in Dubai, hate comments started pouring against Virat Kohli. The attack on the skipper continued after he spoke against relentless trolling of Indian team bowler Mohammed Shami, who was targeted for his religion after the loss.
Kohli had reacted that attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing one can do as a human. Religion is a sacred and personal thing. People are taking out their frustration without understanding what his team does, Kohli had told reporters ahead of the Super 12 match against New Zealand.
