Dalit girl's body with bullet injuries found in well, RS MP stages protest
text_fieldsJaipur: A 20-year-old Dalit girl’s burnt body was found in a well in Rajasthan’s Karauli district on Thursday.
Following the incident, Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena, along with the family members of the victim staged a dharna on Friday.
"She was kidnapped from her house and raped. Two bullets were found on her body. Also, the assailants poured acid on her face, and burn injuries were found. The administration is trying to manipulate the incident," said Meena.
Karauli district SP Mamta Gupta has confirmed the gunshot injuries on her body.
MP Meena, on Thursday, reached the police station and demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the woman’s family.
He also accused police of manipulating facts and sought a second autopsy with videography of the procedure.
Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari and Bharatpur MP Ranjita Koli reached the victim's house on Friday and met her family members.
Kumari charged the administration with being negligent on the issue and demanded quick and strict action against the accused.
Police initially termed the death as "suicide". However, the victim’s family opposed the police’s speculations and alleged that she was kidnapped, raped, and shot dead.
