Dalit girl set ablaze by jilted lover in UP

Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) : Police arrested a man for allegedly setting ablaze a 15-year-old Dalit girl in a village in Ballia district here.
The accused Krishna Gupta, 21, abducted the minor from her house before setting her on fire for consistently rejecting his sexual advances, the girl's father told the police. The incident took place late on Friday night.
The victim was shifted from a hospital in Ballia after her condition worsened,to Varanasi for advanced treatment.
Dubhar police station SHO Anil Chandra Tiwari said that on the complaint of the girl's father, the police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
