Mumbai: The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that recently crashed was "well-maintained," with its last major maintenance check completed in June 2023 and the next scheduled for December 2025, according to Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson.

In a message to passengers on Thursday, Wilson assured that the aircraft had been undergoing regular monitoring and had shown no issues prior to the flight. He detailed that the right engine of the aircraft had been overhauled in March 2025, while the left engine underwent inspection in April 2025. Both engines, along with the aircraft, had been under consistent scrutiny as part of standard safety procedures.

Wilson also noted that the 15 per cent reduction in Air India’s widebody fleet operations over the coming weeks is a temporary measure.
