Covid update: Over 9,000 new cases and 41 deaths in India

New Delhi: India has recorded 9,520 new Covid-19 cases and 41 related deaths in the past 24 hours. This has taken the overall Covid-19 infection tally to 4,43,98,696. The death toll has risen to 5,27,597.

According to the health ministry, the active case currently comprises 0.22% of the total infections and the national recovery rate is at 98.59%. The daily positivity rate is at 4.15% and the weekly positivity rate is at 3.59%.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 185 new cases which took the tally to 4,77,304. 37 cases were in Jammu and 148 were from Kashmir. With no deaths reported yesterday, the death toll remained at 4,782. Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh recorded 157 and 77 Covid-19 cases. And West Bengal reported 283 cases.

Maharashtra's Nashik's Covid tally has risen to 4,81,370 with 136 new cases. The death toll remained at 8,904. Maharashtra reported 1,723 new cases and six deaths. This was a drop from the 1,846 cases recorded a day earlier. Officials said the fatalities remain higher in the state. Mumbai circle recorded 1,144 cases yesterday. This was followed by 264 cases in Pune, 58 in Kolhapur, 43 in Nagpur, 39 in Latur, 12 in Aurangabad, and nine in Akola.
