Covid reinfections after vaccination not ruled out: Bharat Biotech Chairman

As cases of COVID reinfections are being reported in the country, the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech, Krishna Ella, called for the strict adherence of COVID protocols even after receiving the vaccine.

The efficiency of the COVID vaccine is lately being questioned as people who have taken 2 doses of vaccination have reportedly tested positive again.

Injectable vaccines only protect the lower lung and not the upper lung, so the possibility of getting reinfected by covid-19 after inoculation cannot be completely ruled out, said Ella.

"That is the problem with all injectable vaccines," he said.

Nevertheless, he emphasised that people should never refrain from taking vaccines since it will prevent the infection from becoming lethal or life-threatening.
