COVID 19: Weekend lockdown to be imposed in Maharashtra
text_fieldsThe Maharashtra government on Sunday announced 'weekend lockdown' across the state besides stringent weekday norms to combat the alarming rise of Covid-19 cases in the state. The decision was made at an emergency cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after discussing with a cross-section of the society over the last two days and Opposition Leader Devendra Fadnavis.
The weekend curfew shall commence at 8 PM on Friday and end at 7 AM on Monday. Other than that, the new rules and regulation, which includes night curfew from 8 PM to 7 AM and other prohibitory orders during the day, shall kickstart from 8 PM on Monday. Public transport in Mumbai, including local trains, shall continue as usual, but Work-From-Home (WFH) would be promoted to reduce crowds.
Mumbai Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh added that detailed guidelines would be issued spoon. The future course would be decided after reviewing the situation again on April 15.
