Delhi-NCR witnesses a change in weather, as the skies turn dark.

New Delhi: Following the rising number of Covid cases, the Delhi government announced night curfews from 10 PM to 5 AM starting today till April 30.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday had said that though the city was going through the fourth wave of Covid-19, a lockdown is not being considered yet. "As per the current situation, we are not considering imposing a lockdown. We are closely monitoring the situation, and such a decision will only be taken after due public consultation," he had told reporters.

Adding that the night curfew is to check the movement of people and not essential services, the government has notified that traffic movement would not be restricted and people would be permitted to go for vaccinations with an e-pass. Essential services, retailers who need to travel after hours, and print and electronic media journalists would be permitted. Likewise, private doctors, nurses and other medical staff would also be allowed movement with ID cards. Exceptions have also been made for pregnant women and those in need of treatment.

Delhi is the third to impose a night curfew after Maharashtra and Rajasthan, given the spike in Covid-19 cases. On Monday, Delhi recorded 2548 fresh cases and 15 deaths.
