Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan

Chandigarh: Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and two cabinet ministers are among the nine people against whom a court here issued non-bailable warrants.

Two cabinet ministers, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Laljit Singh Bhullar alongside some AAP lawmakers and party works failed to appear before the court.

House speaker and others were to appear at the court in a case of staging a dharna in August 2020, protesting against hooch deaths in the border districts of Amritsar and Tarn Taran, as per report in India Today.

Meanwhile, Punjab Excise and Taxation minister Harpal Singh Cheema launched a statewide drive to stop the illicit trade of extra neutral alcohol (ENA), the raw material from which liquor is made.

ENA incurs loss to state exchequer, besides posing threat to public health.
