On Sunday, October 11, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi demanded the resignation of Karnataka CM, B. S. Yeddyurappa in the wake of the allegations of corruption involving his family members. The Congress has accused that CM and his family are involved in ₹662 crore corruption related to a residential construction project in Bengaluru. Despite dismissing earlier accusations by Leader of Opposition, Siddaramaiah, and calling them 'baseless', the CM is yet to reply to the accusation. s.

Among those involved are the CM's son, son-in-law, and grandson. According to WhatsApp conversations shared by Mr. Singhvi, the contractor paid a ₹12 crore bribe to the Bengaluru Development Authority Commissioner. He claimed that this bribe was paid through shell companies in Kolkata.

The Congress spokesperson also said that it was imperative that the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act be invoked and the allegations investigated. In addition to seeking a judicial enquiry into the matter, there has also been the demand for Yediyurappa's resignation to ensure an unbiased and fair probe. "Appoint a sitting Supreme Court (judge) or a sitting Chief Justice of a High Court as an inquirer for two months," Singhvi demanded. .

Mr. Singhvi also demanded answers from PM Modi, saying that he needed to address this and that his silence was 'incriminatory.' He also inquired whether Yediyurappa holds some 'very special leverage' over Modi and Amit Shah, which allows him immunity.
