BAMCEF leader R Ram.

The Congress and the Left tore down the Dalit-Muslim alliance, which was shaping in this assembly election in West Bengal, says Ambedkarite organization BAMCEF's national leader R Ram. He added that Congress and the Left moved together after BAMCEF president Waman Meshram came to Furfura Sharif and met Abbas Siddiqui for alliance talks.

He thinks that it is because of the joined efforts of the Congress and the Left, Abbas Siddiqui pulled himself out of the Dalit-Tribal-Muslim alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi and Ambedkarites. He added that Abbas Siddiqui had told Meshram that a Muslim-Bahujan coalition would form in West Bengal during this election. The Congress and Left, sensing danger, had withdrawn Siddiqui from the same.

According to him, Modi and Amit Shah are trying to woo five groups of scheduled castes (SCs) in the state. Most of them are converted Muslims, and the Dalit-Muslim alliance is trying to bring them to their side. "They are like our brothers," Ram said.

He believes that if the alliance grows further over time, the political scenario of the state will change. Since the SCs and Muslims of West Bengal together constitute 55 per cent of the population, they could establish political dominance in the state, he says.

Ram added that even after they met Abbas Siddiqui twice and discussed the matter, he fell into the Congress-Left trap. Abbas Siddiqui, however, responded that it doesn't matter anymore.
