Conditions prompt us to build up partnership: US says on creating an alliance with India

The conditions have been emerging for an organic and deeper partnership between India and America, said Stephen E Biegun, Deputy Secretary of State Department, US. Along with that, it is not an alliance on the post-war model, but a fundamental alignment along with shared security and geo-political goals, US Department of State tweeted citing the deputy secretary.

The statements come amid the growing tensions between India and China over border clashes. Global Times, under Chinese Communist Party, had alleged that US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, is throwing a smoke bomb to dampen further the already failed discussions between India and China. After emerging QUAD ministerial meeting in Japan, Mike Pompeo had accused China that it is deploying 60,000 soldiers along the northern border of India.

America has been trying to forge a strong alliance among QUAD members to counter China in the Indo -Pacific region. During a virtual India–US Forum on Monday, the Deputy Secretary of State said that "together with Japan and Australia, we are four democratic anchors (including India) in an Indo-Pacific region buffered by changing winds and shifting current, indicating the urgency of creating an impregnable coalition against the 'elephant in the room', that is China."
