New Delhi: A company’s firing of a well- performing employee to teach others obedience provoked outrage on social media.

A user on Reddit related the experience of a colleague in a post on Reddit without giving details of the company

It said authorities sought to ‘demonstrate’ their power to lay off anyone with an example of showing the door to a worker, NDTV reported.

The Reddit user narrated what was going on in the company, saying that ‘a lot of things have been going down at my current job including upper management stealing commissions from workers, not respecting contract terms’.

The user further recounted the torture at the work, saying that the company was ‘ giving us a hard time if we spend more than 5 mins in the bathroom’

The user claimed to have been threatened the other day by the company authorities with firing for being ‘demotivated’. Further adding, the user admitted to be ‘demotivated’ as the company ‘stole my commissions’.

Going further, the user revealed the situation of another worker, ‘Today they fired a coworker who was a top performer and just behind me in sales figures’.

The employee was officially fired for not meeting expectations, the post said.

‘But, our direct manager told us they fired him as an example, that we shouldn't fight with management for stuffs like commissions or breach of contracts, because they can fire anybody at will if we are trying to go against what they say,’ it revealed.

The post received reactions from members with many slamming the company for its questionable practices.
