The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi and the National Capital Region was increased by Rs 1 per kg on Sunday, marking the second fuel price revision within two days.

Following the latest increase, CNG in Delhi will reportedly cost Rs 80.09 per kg, while prices in Noida and Ghaziabad have risen to Rs 88.70 per kg.

The revision comes shortly after CNG prices were raised by Rs 2 per kg on May 15, intensifying concerns about rising transportation expenses for users of CNG-powered autorickshaws, taxis and private vehicles across the NCR, The New Indian Express reported.

Petrol and diesel prices in the national capital have also reportedly been revised upward. Petrol prices in Delhi have increased by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 97.77 from Rs 94.77, while diesel prices have similarly risen by Rs 3 per litre, reaching Rs 90.67 from Rs 87.67.

The repeated hikes in transport fuel prices are expected to increase the financial burden on daily commuters and raise operational costs for transport services in the region.

The increase in fuel prices comes amid rising global crude oil prices linked to continuing tensions in West Asia. Analysts have attributed the surge to disruptions in global oil supply caused by the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran since February 28, which has reportedly pushed Brent crude prices above USD 100 per barrel.
