Class 6 student falls to death from Jaipur school; probe on
text_fieldsJaipur: A Class 6 student died after falling from the fourth floor of a private school in Jaipur on Saturday, with police suspecting suicide.
According to police, the incident occurred at Neerja Modi School, where the 12-year-old girl, Amaira, allegedly jumped from the fourth floor. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival, Mansarovar SHO Lakhan Khatana said.
“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. CCTV footage from the school premises is being examined to determine the sequence of events,” Khatana added.
Abhishek Jain, spokesperson of the Joint Parents Association, claimed that Amaira took the extreme step after being “upset with the behaviour of a teacher.” He further alleged that the school administration attempted to destroy evidence by cleaning the site of the incident.
“We have spoken to several students who said the girl was distressed due to a teacher’s conduct. The association demands that parents be included in school committees to improve transparency and safety,” Jain said.
Forensic experts were called to the scene to collect samples, and the police have launched a detailed investigation. The post-mortem examination is being carried out at Jaipuria Hospital in the presence of Amaira’s parents and relatives.
Expressing grief over the tragedy, School Education Minister Madan Dilawar criticised the school’s security arrangements. “It seems the school lacked adequate safety measures. I have directed the district education officer to investigate the matter and submit a detailed report,” the minister said.
