Clash reported along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, 11 injured

At least 11 people from Assam were injured following a violent confrontation between two groups at the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Monday.
The incident took place in the Mingmang Badati area of Assam's Dhemaji district.
Preliminary reports said the clash followed a dispute over encroachment by residents of Arunachal Pradesh on land claimed to be within Assam territory.
The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment, while four people were referred to Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the situation was under control and efforts were underway to resolve the dispute. He said he had asked the state's education minister to speak with leaders in Arunachal Pradesh, while Assam's Director General of Police and chief secretary were in contact with their counterparts.
"Today there was a clash in Dhemaji between a group of people of Arunachal and Assam. The matter is being resolved amicably," Sarma said.
Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804.1-kilometre border, with around 1,200 points of dispute between the two states.
The latest confrontation has raised fresh concerns over security in the border region, where recurring disputes over land and encroachments have contributed to tensions between communities.
