Srinagar: The Centre will deploy more troops in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir following two terrorist attacks in less than two weeks in the area.

Around 1,800 personnel belonging to 18 companies of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) will work in the area where people still reel from shock.

The centre’s decision comes in the wake of massive protests in the district, blaming the attacks on administration’s ineffectual handling of the terrorists.

The most recent spate of attacks that began on Sunday morning saw two terrorists storming into Hindu homes picking up their victims by their identity cards.

The attacks left four people killed and six injured leading to widespread protests in the district.

Again six persons, two of them children, were killed and many more injured in a terror attack in Upper Dangri village on Sunday evening and Monday morning, NDTV reported.

Security forces have since been combing the area to track down terrorists behind the attack on Hindu home in Rajouri.

In the continuing attacks two more children were killed and five people got injured after Improvised Explosive Device went off during a cordon and search here.

The blast was reported from near the home of a victim of Sunday’s terror attack in Rajouri.

Alongside civilian killings happening in the interior villages, on December 16 two people were killed outside an army camp.

Over 70 battalions of CRPF that makes around one-third of the CRPF's total strength have already been deployed in the Union Territory.
