New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear a petition submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation challenging the bail granted to Lalu Yadav in the fodder scam cases.

The Jharkhand High Court granted bail to the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief in at least four cases, according to NDTV.

In obviously a fresh trouble for the aging leader, the CBI has challenged all the orders by the court, which the Supreme Court will hear on August 25.

Convicted in the cases, Lalu Yadav’s appeals are pending in various courts, the report said.

The 950-crore fodder scam that rocked the nation in 1990s was about embezzlement of funds meant for animal fodder from multiple government treasuries in the undivided Bihar.

It is reported that the Animal Husbandry Department issued fake bills to carry out embezzlement of funds.

The fodder scam case emerged in 1996 after Chaibasa Deputy Commissioner Amit Khare founded out the details when Lalu Yadav was the chief minister.

Alongside in the alleged land-for-jobs scam, the CBI filed a chargesheet against Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and their son Tejashwi Yadav.

When Lalu Yadav was the railway minister, jobs were given in the railways from 2004 to 2009 in return for land parcels sold at cheap rate or gifted to the Yadav family, investigating agencies allege.

Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav are at the forefront of Opposition’s the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
