Cat found to be culprit for meat found inside Hyderabad temple near Shiva Lingam
text_fieldsThe tension that gripped Hyderabad after the meat was found inside Jirra Hanuman Temple, near the Shiva Lingam, a possible act of desecration of the temple, called in a police investigation, which revealed that a cat had brought in the meat, as caught on CCTV, with the authorities requesting the public to refrain from spreading misinformation.
The police examined CCTV footage from 17 cameras in and around the temple and concluded that a cat was responsible for bringing the meat inside. According to DCP (South West) G Chandra Mohan, footage from the temple's north-facing camera showed a cat carrying a piece of meat in its mouth and entering the premises, which confirmed that no human involvement was detected.
Despite this clarification, nearly 50 people from the neighbourhood staged a protest outside the temple in the morning, and the demonstration grew as activists from the BJP, BJYM, and VHP joined in, continuing their agitation into the afternoon.
Earlier, the police had stated that while initial findings suggested the involvement of an animal, they would take strict action if any human involvement was found, though their investigation ruled out such a possibility.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA T Raja Singh shared a video on X, alleging that anti-social elements had attempted to disrupt peace under Congress rule, and he demanded that those responsible be punished.
With the situation gradually stabilising, the police maintained a presence in the area to prevent any further disturbances, and they reiterated their appeal for calm to ensure communal harmony was preserved.
