Fatehpur: A Muslim man Tasabbul has been booked for allegedly divorcing his wife Razia Bano over phone from Saudi Arabia.

Hathgam station house officer (SHO) AK Gautam said that Bano has alleged that Tasabbul divorced her through the outlawed practice of instant triple talaq as her family could not fulfill dowry demands.

Bano and Tasabbul got married on May 21, 2005. While Tasabbul is a resident of Mohammadpur Gaunti under the Sultanpur Ghosh police station, Bano is a resident of Chak Auhadpur village. Tasabbul and his family allegedly assaulted Bano several times after marriage. Tasabbul gave Bano the triple talaq over phone from Saudi Arabia where he is presently employed on Monday.

Though a case has been filed against eight of Tasabbul's family, no arrests have been made. The matter is being probed, Gautam said.
