BS Yediyurappa's granddaughter allegedly dies by suicide
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa's granddaughter Soundarya was found dead at her home in Bengaluru on Friday morning.
The 30-year-old is suspected to have died by suicide. According to reports by ANI, Soundarya's mortal remains have been brought to her farmhouse in Bengaluru after postmortem from government-run Bowring hospital.
So far, there is no confirmation on a death note left behind her.
Some media reports have quoted Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra who said that Soundarya was suffering from post-pregnancy depression. Soundarya has a four-month-old baby.
"There is no doubt about it. We all knew she was battling post-pregnancy depression. Yediyurappa is really upset. Soundarya and her husband were a good couple," he said.
Soundarya, a doctor, was the daughter of Mr Yediyurappa's second daughter Padmavathi. She married a colleague at her hospital, Dr Neeraj S, in 2018.
As per officials, Soundarya's husband left for the hospital and she stayed at home.
When the help arrived, she kept knocking but no one opened the door. She then called Neeraj S, who called on his wife's phone but got no response. The door was forced open, the police said.
Chief Minister Basaaraj Bommai, many ministers and senior BJP leaders visited Mr Yediyurappa's home after learning of the tragedy.
