Thiruvananthapuram: Following a bomb threat, a Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram Air India flight made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport. The passengers were evacuated shortly after the landing, and the flight was removed from the taxiway for detailed inspection.

The flight took off from Mumbai at 5.45 am. It is reported that as per the bomb threat, the explosive was placed inside the plane, and the pilot was informed so. Following this, the air traffic controller was immediately informed. An investigation has been started into the incident.

It was in early June, a Vistara flight flying from Paris to Mumbai with 306 persons onboard received a bomb threat, leading to an emergency alert at the airport prior to its arrival in Mumbai.

However, after thorough searches, nothing suspicious was found on flight 6E2211, NDTV reported. The flight, with 176 passengers onboard, was to take off from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport around 5 am when it was stopped on the runway.

"At 05:40 am, a phone call was received from the IGI airport regarding a bomb threat. A message 'BOMB BLAST @30 MINUTES' was written on a piece of paper inside the lavatory of the flight and was found by the pilot," NDTV quoted an official then after the incident.

In April, the Dabolim airport in South Goa received an email about a bomb, sending the authorities into a tizzy. A senior official informed that the airport increased the security on the premises, PTI reported.

Talking to PTI, airport director S V T Dhanamjaya Rao said his office received an email in the morning about a bomb at the airport.
